The l sunken area is scovered with gravel &#8211; which is a metaphor for water in the Japanese Garden and is used for ritual cleansing in many religions: After the symbolic cleansing we enter the house.<br \/>\nRaised beds flank the stairs and an open fence marks the border. Flat cut lime trees form a protective roof over the garden.
