Garden courtyard for artist couple in Hangelar near Bonn/Germany
Size: 6 x 5m, 30 m2

The small garden patio is bordered by two window fronts and two house walls. It is located at the back of the studio extension of the project „Garden Courtyard in Hangelar near Bonn/Germany „.

The result is a clear space, formally aligned on four basalt lava steles. The two steles facing away from the windows are illuminated in the evening by recessed floor spotlights. The „window cut-outs“ of the steles are alternately filled with objects collected by the artist couple, and objects that have been produced creatively, or they remain empty, providing space for one’s own „thought-discoveries“. The box hedges will rise up from the paved area to the walls. Teucrium chamaedrys, the native germander, was chosen as the underplanting. It is evergreen and blooms pink in summer, a brilliant bee pasture that attracts bees from the surrounding area even into the enclosed courtyard.
