Garden courtyard for an artist couple in Hangelar near Bonn/Germany

The garden courtyard adjoins the painters‘ studio building. A large paved area, offering enough space for celebrations with 20 people, was required. As usual, the area should be as low maintenance as possible.
The result is several partial areas which converge at one point. In this way the courtyard conveys lightness and buoyancy despite all the paving. The existing Pfitzer juniper was thinned out and pruned and decorative cherry was added to form the boundary in the third dimension.
Planting: close-to-nature perennials and small shrubs. Ground-covering perennials keep the growth of weeds to a minimum.
